How soon am I protected?
Depending on when you start using the Patch, you may not be protected from pregnancy for the first week of Patch use. Starting the Patch on the first day of your period provides immediate protection.

Follow the instructions below to see if or how long you need to use non-hormonal backup contraception, such as a condom, spermicide or a diaphragm.

If you chose a First Day Start: If you apply your first patch during the first 24 hours of your period, no additional backup is required. If the Patch is not applied within the first 24 hours of your period, you must use backup contraception, such as a condom, spermicide or a diaphragm, for the first week of patch use.

If you chose a Sunday Start: You must use back-up contraception, such as a condom, spermicide or a diaphragm, for the first week of your first cycle.
